Artist Statement
my artwork is created through gentle eyes seeing nature all around me. it seems like more and more people are too busy to notice the simplest of things surrounding their home. these paintings on canvas allow me to bring that beauty inside, reminding me of all that is shut out once indoors.
i took on the subject matter of flora and fauna, particularly birds. their flight seeming to represent freedom yet still bound by instinct: to love and mate, feed and protect. all that to live another day. in my eyes, those delicately fragile creatures seem all too similar to my own life.
the whimsical yet delicate images i paint remind me of how precious and valuable these creatures are to the balance of life on earth. and also, the peace that they can bring by just enjoying the simple things given to us.
